How It's Made
Every Juniper BBQ Scraper is hand-crafted from start to finish. The process begins with select harvested juniper (tamarack) from a sustainable forest. We work with local harvesters to identify and harvest small batches of juniper. This batches can range from a few cords to a full truck load depending on our order volume.
These juniper logs are then sent to a local mill where a 2 person team saw the logs and kiln dry the lumber.
We then transport the processed lumber back to our facility where our team complete the process.
Once we have the lumber in our work shop, we cut it to length. There is a lot of effort focused on ensuring the individual pieces meet our quality standards.
There is magic in the next few steps. Every bit of it requires the skilled hands of our team. No CNC routers, shapers, or robots are used. Once each scraper is shaped and hand sanded it then receives our stamp of approval.
Next we finish each Juniper BBQ Scraper with high grade cutting board oil to draw out the grain and help protect the wood. We use all natural Clark's Cutting Board Oil.
The last step is to add the product tag and give the scraper a final inspection ensuring it's the best we can produce. This step is a family event involving my amazing wife Jackie, Mom, Dad, my sister, aunts, uncles, and sometimes the Top Dog, Kristal the golden retriever.
When the entire process is complete, we package and ship the finished product to local retailers and customers around the world.
